PS5 – PS5 Limited Edition McDonald’s Controller Being Given Away in Australia
McDonald’s Australia designed 50 limited edition PS5 DualSense controllers, which Aussies can win while watching certain streamers at specific times.
By watching certain streamers next week, fans in Australia have a chance to win 50 burgers and fries-inspired PlayStation 5 controllers from McDonald’s Australia. The first sneak peek at a DualSense controller in early 2020 quickly ignited a desire for cosmetic customization options. Its simple white and black design, along with the removable plate, offered a limitless number of possibilities. As of now, however, Sony itself has hardly taken advantage of the controller’s blank slate.
Three color variants are currently available to purchase online and at retail for PS5 owners and PC users. The standard white and black design looks as sleek as ever, but the black and gray color scheme holds a special place in the hearts of many a PlayStation fan. Sony released the black design, dubbed Midnight Black, earlier this summer on June 11. That same day also saw the platform holder unleash the gorgeous red and black DualSense, aptly known as Cosmic Red. Who knows when another special variant will hit store shelves? PlayStation fans in Australia, however, have something a little different to keep their eyes on.
In honor of its 50th anniversary, McDonald’s Australia has designed 50 limited edition McDonald’s-branded DualSense controllers. The special controller boasts the fast-food giant’s signature yellow and red color scheme, with a dash of white tying it all together. Fries adorn the handle near the D-pad, while a burger sits comfortably beneath the face buttons. Finally, the McDonald’s logo rests square in the middle of the DualSense touchpad.
Australian fans can win the custom device starting Sunday, July 31 by tuning in to the following McDonald’s-sponsored Twitch streams (via Press Start): Muselk on Sunday at 1:00 PM (Overwatch), Jacko G on Monday at 6:00 PM (Overwatch), X2Twins on Tuesday at 10:00 PM (Minecraft), Cripsy on Wednesday at 1:00 PM (FIFA 21), Kiki on Thursday at 8:00 PM (Night in the Woods), Crayator on Friday at 4:00 PM (Mario Kart), Aiden AK on Saturday at 4:00 PM (World of Warcraft).
The custom McDonald’s DualSense controller is arguably quite the eyesore. Still, as a limited edition device, it’ll be a neat thing for someone to own. Here’s to hoping Sony starts getting a little more creative with its own designs for the gamepad.
As noted above, the PlayStation 5 controller also works on PC, though the functionality requires a wired connection. Not every game takes advantage of the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, but some PC titles are starting to enable the bells and whistles. Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition counts as one such game, as does Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
