PS5 – PSVR 2 Huge Leak Reveals Full Specs, Controller Details, Games & More
Sony’s PSVR 2 is coming, and after a closed-door developer summit leak, we finally know the device’s full specs.
We’ve been eagerly waiting for new details about PlayStation VR 2, Sony’s second attempt at making a virtual reality headset. After the success of the original PSVR, we never doubted that PlayStation would bring attempt a PS5 VR kit too.
Recently, Sony announced that next-gen PSVR was coming to PS5 consoles.
And the developer even revealed what the PSVR 2 controllers will look like at launch.
But aside from that, we haven’t heard much about the upcoming device. That said, new leaks report that we’ll be hearing about the PSVR 2 very soon, in Sony’s Summer showcase.

The major PlayStation event is dropping in September, according to new reports. But until then, we just got a major leak about the PS5’s VR headset, and the full PSVR 2 specs may have been revealed.
PS5 VR Leak – NGVR (Next-Gen VR)
According to a new leak reported by PSVR Without Parole, the upcoming PSVR 2 is currently being referred to as the NGVR.
Although this is unlikely to be the actual name on release, NGVR refers to next-gen VR on PS5 consoles. All this information reportedly comes from a recent developer summit for the upcoming PSVR 2.
If it turns out to be true, Sony will likely be very unhappy with the leaker who initially shared the details.

PSVR 2 Full Hardware Specs
The leak states that the PlayStation VR 2 will have Fresnel OLED screens, with a resolution of 2000 x 2040 per eye. This gives the headset a full 4K HDR display, an impressive feat for a VR headset.
The PSVR2 FOV is 110 degrees, allowing for a little extra immersion in your gaming. Notably, this is 10 degrees wider than the first PSVR headset, and 20 degrees more than the best-selling Oculus Quest 2.

The hardware is also reportedly capable of Flexible Scaling, which dedicates the headset’s resources to rendering the area of a player’s focus. The NGVR is also capable of Foveated Rendering and Eye Tracking, which it uses to dramatically decrease the strain on the hardware.
According to PSVR Without Parole, the aim of these new technologies is to “make PSVR 2 games look better than VR games rightfully should.”
In the past, we’ve seen leaks that suggested that PSVR 2 would have haptics in the headset for added immersion. These new reports indicate those leaks are correct, though an older rotary motor is used to help reduce motion sickness.
PSVR 2 Controller Leaks
The PSVR 2 controllers we already know about will come included with every next-gen VR headset. But they are yet to receive an actual name, it appears.

Adaptive triggers, present in the next-gen DualSense controllers, will also be coming to the PlayStation VR 2 kit. On top of that, capacitive touch sensors for the thumb, index, and middle finger will help the controller know exactly what your hand is doing at any moment.
Not only that, the controller will reportedly know how far away your fingers are from its surface.

PSVR 2 Games
As for the games coming to the PSVR 2, Sony allegedly wants to move away from VR experiences to focus on console-quality AAA titles. It seems that the company will be aiming to create hybrid games that are playable in both flatscreen of PSVR gaming.
When these games launch, players will be able to download just the regular version, or the PSVR 2 version, in order to save space. It looks as though Sony will also be remastering a number of PSVR 1 games for the upcoming VR console.

Right now, we still don’t know what the headset itself looks like, nor do we know its entry price. Apparently, full launch details for the next-gen PS5 VR headset will drop in early 2022.
However, we might already know the PSVR 2 release date…
We also just got a massive new array of PlayStation statistics, including total sales, PS Plus subscriber count, active users & more!
