Xiaomi – Samsung reportedly launches internal review of its mobile division
M3
They always gave SnapDragon for US and shitty overheating Exynos for rest of world. YouTubers in 2020 destroyed them by showing their own hardware (including camera) working far better with Snapdragon. Now Samsung released S20FE 5G, A52 5G in India with SDs (their Exynos versions are still in market and they’re not selling). They need to bring back qHD and curved screens on all S devices not just the ULTRA. Nobody wants downgrades. I’m still using an S7 for last 4 years – I doubt if my next will be a Samsung given the current situation.

Overpriced. Removed features.
That’s it. Fix those. Completed the internal review.
If not, Xiaomi and BBK will crush you.
?
Looks like people are really upset over the construction materials. Samsung can easily fix this with a glass and metal design on the S22 series and just bring back the Quad HD resolution on all variants but it’s upto them to decide whether or not they will bring back those features
?
Sad that samsung is trying to ban Xiaomi like huawei

Jayrod86, 1 hour agoSamsung is paying the price why is the Samsung Galaxy s21 plastic while the iPhone 12 which I … moreExactly.
They killed the A-Series all glass-metal design and replaced it with plastics.
Now they’re killing the S-Series and Note series variants and replacing them with overpriced plastics. That if you want the all glass-metal design you have to pay more for the ULRA variants.
I mean, Apple, Oppo, Huawei, Asus, OnePlus and others are offering all glass-metal design at a cheaper price.
Samsung knows where they messed up. I was mad at this when I noticed how they slowly killed the A-Series and when they did the same to S-Series and Note series, I knew it was just a matter of time.
MKBHD also called them out on this but of course, Samsung listens to no one.

Joeven Yacub, 2 hours agoIt all boils down to the consumers. Smartphones have reached their design peak that no matter … moreIt’s true. But if you’re keen you’ll notice that Samsung’s design approach is going back to the era of sub-par plastics.
They deliberately killed the glass-metal design on A-Series phones and replaced it with plastics.
Now they’re have done the same to S-Series and Note Series. That if you want an all glass-metal design you have to buy the ULTRA devices. Otherwise, if you can’t meet the price you have to get the lower spec plastic alternatives.
Who wants to spend $1000 on plastics when you can get premium built all glass-metal phones on Apple, Oppo, Huawei, Asus, OnePlus and others?

This what happens when you decide to destroy your phones.
Samsung deliberately killed the Alpha Series (A-Series) brand that came with premium built phones, Gorilla Glass 4 front and back, sandwiching a metal chassis. FullHD SuperAmoled displays.
They replaced the Alpha with now Awesome Series that’s so full of plastics and sub-par displays.
Now they have gone ahead to add more plastics on the S-Series and Note Series. That if you want a full glass-metal phone, you have to buy the ULTRA range.
All these mistakes messed them up. And as always, Samsung hardly listens to the customers. My next upgrade will definitely not be a Samsung.

meanwhile apple only have 70+ patent on 5G
lol….
In time,
Huawei will be back,
right now Apple still sold because it’s not an electronic device anymore
Apple is status symbol for some poor soul that can’t afford real expensive brand like LV bag.
It’s marketshare have been going down from 20%+ to 12% now.

I don’t think anyone will cry over this.
Samsung era has over.
Just like the BB, Nokia, LG, HTC, Apple era have already over.
Now it’s the Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo era.
Now it’s samsung turn to learn the competitor, and try to beat them.
And as a customer, we will benefit from competition.
Better device…
So, move aside samsung, learn or begone.

It all boils down to the consumers. Smartphones have reached their design peak that no matter how radical a feature or quirk you might put on your brand new model, it’s still a rectangular slab that looks just like everyone else. Why spend more when I can purchase an equivalent for much, much less?
That’s Samsung’s conundrum, hence their scrambling to re-release as much medrange variants as they can handle just to compensate for dwindling flagship sales. And this applies to every smartphone manufacturer, from Apple to Honor. The pandemic is just another factor in this.

I couldn’t be happier that number 1 player’s most expensive line is in decline. Soon the others will follow because :
The market is getting saturated.
People are getting smarter when it comes to spend their hard earned money.
People find better value in the competition.
People stick longer with their expensive devices.
People find more reasons to buy cheaper midrange phones with great specs for their needs which can do just fine for 2, 3,4+ years. The era of octa-core A53 midrangers with emmc storage is long gone and for the better.
And the list goes on.. .

Why this pandemic only affects Samsung sales? Last time i checked every other well known companies are doing great and sales are up.

Nowadays non tech-geek buyers also watching phone reviews on YouTube, asking their tech-geeky friends to help them choose the best value for money purchase. Being ignorant to customers/market demand is a straight way to end their bussiness.
Inefficiencies: releasing many phones, but none of their products are easily recommended in any segment, just make one or few good-specced phones in each segment. Software side, they had to accomodate many regular updates in each region for each model. They should simplify it, making one firmware for all regions for each model.

its quite funny alot of people on here thinking they know what is needed to be done but really dont have a clue about what the customers actually want. (UK based opinion)
working in phone contract sales people dont care about specs they care about the costs, s21 and s20 did do so well because there is a movement in the contract space moving to 3 year contracts as a cheaper option for getting the more expensive phones. on top of that most customers nowadays are using older flagship models that they would have normally upgraded and keeping them till they fail and moving onto the sim only options.
so in the past 3 years i have been asked twice about a headphone jack on the phone and they still went on to purchase the phone.
plastic backs no one really cares most that are looking at high end phones are looking for status symbols rather than material. chinese phones are still looked at as cheap and cheerful not as a good recognised brand.
samsung have shot them selves in the foot with the s range by offering the selection that they do, customers are more intrested in costs why have a £600 when another samsung model comes in at half the price and they dont use it to there full potential any way, also some of those that had the s5 and the s6 or even the s7 are now looking to upgrade to the A range not the S range, with the FE still being the only budget (sort of) S model there isnt much to tempt those onto the 21’s
