Xiaomi will be launching its much anticipated RedmiBook laptops in India on Tuesday, August 3. Ahead of the launch, Xiaomi has not revealed any details regarding the upcoming notebooks. However, according to various leaks, some specifications of the upcoming RedmiBook laptops have been revealed.
Among the models expected to be launched is the RedmiBook 15, powered by Intel’s 11th Gen Core i3 and Core i5 Tiger Lake processors. It has also been reported that it will have a 65W charger. The specifications and India pricing of the new laptop have been leaked online.
Xiaomi had earlier confirmed availability on Flipkart in a promotional teaser. The laptop will likely be available via Mi.com also.
The RedmiBook 15 is tipped to feature a 15.6-inch Full-HD display with 1920×1080 pixels resolution. The teaser posted by Redmi reveals that the laptop will feature a classic design with thick bezels around the display. The laptop will run on Windows 10. The RedmiBook 15 will be released in two storage variants 256 GB and 512 GB of PCIe SSD along with 8 GB RAM. The laptop will have a slim metal body with a spacious keyboard and trackpad.
The connectivity options on the RedmiBook 15 are likely to include a dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth v5.0, as well as USB 3.1 Type-C, USB Type-A, USB 2.0, HDMI, and an audio jack. The device will likely have two 2W stereo speakers onboard and an inbuilt HD webcam. Xiaomi had ditched the webcam on its Mi Notebook laptops that were launched in the country last year. Instead, it was shipping a USB webcam with the machine.
The laptop is likely to run Windows 10, but users will be able to upgrade to Windows 11 once the new version is released. According to a report by 91mobiles RedmiBook, 15 will ship with a 65W charger in India. Similar to the model introduced in Indonesia.
The China-based company, Redmi is also speculated to unveil another 14-inch RedmiBook laptop alongside the RedmiBook 15 in the Indian market. The 14-inch RedmiBook is likely to have a Full HD display as well.
Xiaomi entered the laptop market last year in 2020 and is now bringing its successful RedmiBook range of laptops to India. The RedmiBook 15 is expected to be priced aggressively in India. It is likely to be priced within Rs. 50,000. Currently, the RedmiBook will be available in only one colour option Charcoal Grey.
In this price range, The RedmiBook 15 is said to compete against the likes of the Asus VivoBook, Acer Swift 3, and Xiaomi’s own Mi Notebook 14 Horizon Edition after its release. The notebook is expected to go on sale in a few days after the launch on August 3rd.
Xiaomi has released an invite mentioning the launch of the RedmiBook. The invite said, “Last year, Redmi had become more than a smartphone brand by launching power banks, earbuds, and smart bands. This year, we launched smart TVs also. And now we have decided to launch RedmiBook.”
In related news, Xiaomi’s upcoming Mi Pad 5 series of tablet specifications have been leaked. The first variant is likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 870 chipset with 5G support. It will feature a 10.95-inch LCD display with 2K resolution and a side-facing fingerprint scanner. It is likely to have a large 8,720mAh battery with 67W fast charging support. There is also a 48-megapixel primary rear camera.
