EA Sports has confirmed the Dual Entitlement offer for PS4 and Xbox One players, and how players can upgrade to the next-gen version of the game for free.

EA has released a fair bit of FIFA 22 feature news over the last couple of weeks in the leadup to release later this year, including detailed deep-dives on Gameplay, Pro Clubs and Career Mode, with more set to come over the coming weeks.

It’s also the first FIFA game to include HyperMotion technology, a new feature that EA say will deliver the most realistic, fluid, and responsive football experience for next-gen consoles and Stadia.

With all the feature news being released ahead of FIFA 22’s arrival, there is, unfortunately, some bad news as well, and this applies to PS4 and Xbox One users who are hoping to upgrade to the next-gen version of the game after its official release.

In the lists of pre-order bonuses for the Standard and Ultimate Edition of FIFA 22 on the EA Sports official website, Dual Entitlement is not included with the Standard Edition of FIFA 22.

This means that those with a PS4 or Xbox One who are looking to upgrade to a next-gen console after the release of FIFA 22 must pre-order the Ultimate Edition to be able to upgrade to the next-gen version of FIFA 22 for free.

It’s also more bad news for PS4 and Xbox One gamers, with HyperMotion technology only featuring on the next-gen version of the game, to be played on the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS5 or Stadia.

So, what does this mean price-wise? How much would it cost to purchase two Standard Editions, or would it be better to just buy the Ultimate Edition?

Here’s what we know about the FIFA 22 Standard and Ultimate Editions.

If you pre-order the FIFA 22 Standard Edition (around £59.99 on Xbox One/PS4 and around £69.99 on Xbox Series X/S/PS5) you’ll get the following bonuses:

• Play the game from Friday, October 1, 2021

• Kylian Mbappé Loan item
• FUT Ambassador Loan Player Pick
• Career Mode Homegrown Talent
• NO Dual Entitlement

But if you pre-order the FIFA 22 Ultimate Edition (around £89.99 on all platforms) you’ll get the following pre-order bonuses:

• Ones to Watch Player item
• 4 Days Early Access – play the game from Monday, September 27, 2021
• Dual Entitlement – FREE PlayStation 5/Xbox Series S/X upgrade
• 4600 FIFA Points

• Kylian Mbappé Loan item
• FUT Ambassador Loan Player Pick
• Career Mode Homegrown Talent

So if you’re a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One player and you’re thinking of upgrading to a next-generation console in the coming months, you’ll have to pre-order the Ultimate Edition of the game in order to upgrade for free, otherwise, you’ll have to purchase the Standard Edition twice.

FIFA 22 will be released in the UK and worldwide on Friday, October 1, 2021. FIFA 22 is available to pre-order now on all platforms.
